Women in Canada haven't always had the rights that they have today. Before 1929, they weren't even legally considered people. It took five iconic ladies to get us that change, and now look where we are. However, back then women weren't able to work for the Senate because only "qualified persons" could do such a task, and that was taken to mean men. Here you will learn the stuggles that women went through to get their proper rights and freedoms, as well as the iconic women who played a major role in this change. It is shocking to see how less than a hundred years ago things were so incredibly different. Women had only gained the right to vote in 1918, so it was still fairly new. As well, men were seen as the dominant sex and women were more like property. Women in Canada nowadays should be thankful for what we have because it wasn't always so good for us.
